Politicians Against Online Casinos

With all the political activity surrounding the potential banning of online casinos, one would think that placing a $5 bet on a game of blackjack was equivalent to selling nuclear secrets to Iran. What is so evil about online casinos?? With all the problems that there are in the world – heightened crime, arms smuggling, global terrorism, global poverty and drug abuse– one would think that the leading politicians would have something else to discuss besides online casinos. The amount of time and money being spent by politicians in the United States at the moment regarding the issue of whether online casinos should be banned or not, is quite ridiculous. What is so evil about Joe Bloggs placing a $5 bet on a blackjack game at an online casino?

There are hundreds of land casinos in the United States. What is the difference between a person placing a bet at a roulette table at a land casino or someone accessing online casinos from their home and placing a bet? What makes the one OK, and the other not? If it is a question about lost income revenue to the state, then the online casinos industry should be regulated and taxes should be charged on the winnings of individuals and the (very substantial) earnings of the online casinos themselves.

There are so many more important things to worry about in the world. If a bit of fun and enjoyment can be gained from playing at online casinos, then people should be left alone. The online casinos industry is in agreement that with regulation and proper supervision, everyone would benefit. So what is the big deal??
